Client: Selfridges – Flagship Retail Environment

EDC Fire Protection was appointed to deliver a comprehensive programme of passive fire protection works within a flagship Selfridges retail store. The project required extensive coordination to ensure full compliance while maintaining uninterrupted trading operations.
Works included complex fire stopping to mixed-service penetrations, replacement of certified fire doors throughout public and back-of-house areas, and the installation of fire barriers above ceilings and within service voids. A key element of the project was compartmentation line tracing and reinstatement, alongside remedial works to legacy installations that no longer met current standards.
The project resulted in enhanced compartmentation, improved fire integrity, and full compliance assurance. Detailed photographic reporting and certification were provided, giving the client complete confidence in the long-term safety of the building.

EDC Fire Protection delivered specialist fire stopping and sealing works within a live BBC broadcasting environment, where operational continuity was critical.
The scope covered technical plant rooms and studios, with air sealing and fire mastic applications around cable trays, ducts, and data penetrations. EDC also carried out remedial works to address non-compliant legacy installations and installed fire barriers within equipment spaces and riser cupboards.
The project achieved full compliance across complex technical spaces, supported by comprehensive photographic reporting and certification. The BBC benefited from improved fire integrity without interruption to critical services.

EDC Fire Protection was engaged to deliver sensitive passive fire protection works within the Royal Exchange, a historic and architecturally significant building.
Fire stopping was installed within historic structural walls and risers, alongside structural steel protection using fire-resistant encasement and intumescent systems. Works also enhanced compartmentation between retail, office, and circulation spaces.
The project achieved full regulatory compliance while preserving the character of the building. Complete materials traceability and compliance documentation were provided, ensuring a robust audit trail for stakeholders.

EDC Fire Protection supported Saxon Weald with a programme of passive fire protection works across residential blocks, focusing on compliance, safety, and resident accessibility.
Works included cavity barrier installation within external wall systems, fire stopping to service penetrations in flats and communal areas, and fire door remediation to achieve compliant performance. Structural fire protection was also applied to key elements of the buildings.
Each block was delivered with full certification and photographic reporting, providing assurance of compliance and improved fire safety across the housing stock.
Case Study: NHS Imperial – Clinical Healthcare Environment
EDC Fire Protection carried out compartmentation surveys and remedial fire stopping works within an operational NHS hospital environment.
Surveys were undertaken across clinical areas, plant rooms, and circulation spaces to identify compartmentation breaches. Fire stopping works were completed to restore the integrity of compartment walls and service risers, with remedial actions delivered to IFC-approved standards.
The hospital achieved improved fire compartmentation and compliance, supported by detailed reporting that included risk findings and photographic evidence of remedial works.
